I’m just going to refer to this movie as “Franz Ferdinand meets a faux Vincent Price”.

Seriously, there was a credit for “New Wave Hairstylist”.

Frightmare (1983) is a film about a group of obnoxious film or drama students who kidnap the dead body of a Vincent Price-like movie star who is later resurrected to pull all the students into hell. There are four male cast members and they all dress like a member of Franz Ferdinand. This was I believe Jeffrey Combs’ first movie, and I’ll equate him to Nick McCarthy, FF’s guitarist. While none of the performances are all that great and this movie is very slow-moving and a half-hour too long, this is a better early Troma production than say, Christmas Evil.

So I guess give it another 20 or 30 years and someone will decide to remake this movie and give it the clever casting of Jeffrey Combs as the dead horror film icon.

Frightmare was Jeff Combs’ first horror movie. His first film was Honky Tonk Freeway in which he played a very cute bank teller for all of 30 seconds. :)

And god forbid, he should ever have to play Conrad! I shudder at the thought.

(Post now improved with closed tag!) :P
